HBO Leads SAG Noms
HBO received 10 nominations for the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, leading all networks, cable and broadcast. HBO’s dominance helped cable earn 21 nominations to broadcasters’ 19 nominations. AMC, TNT and Showtime each earned three noms, with Hallmark Channel and USA receiving one each. HBO’s The Sopranos led cable with three nominations: best lead actress (Edie Falco), best lead actor (James Gandolfini) and the series’ cast, which will compete with HBO sibling Deadwood for best ensemble performance in a drama series. HBO’s Entourage and Showtime’s Weeds are up for best ensemble performance in a comedy series. The awards will be held Jan. 28 in Los Angeles.
PCN Wins Best in Show
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Dennis Wolff presented Pennsylvania Cable Network with the Farm Show Service Award on Jan. 6 at the 2007 Pennsylvania Farm Show. PCN was recognized for producing more than 1,600 hours of TV coverage since 1994 at the nation’s largest indoor agricultural event, which this year attracted more than 400,000 visitors.
HRTV Doc Wins ACCLAIM
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association will award HRTV and Pony Highway Productions with its 2006 Eclipse Media Award on Jan. 22 in Beverly Hills, Calif. HRTV and the Littlerock, Calif.-based producers are being saluted for On the Muscle: Portrait of a Thoroughbred Racing Stable, a documentary that aired on HRTV last year.
