India’s Reliance Globalcom is using Ciena’s WaveLogic coherent optical 100G networking solutions to upgrade its FLAG Europe-Asia (FEA) submarine network, providing “massive capacity increases” to its route that connects Egypt and Jordan. According to Ciena, the upgrade allows Reliance to increase submarine bandwidth on this segment by 10 times, enabling the launch of 10GE and OTU-2 services. It also allows the operator to provide 100GbE to its customers. Reliance’s existing fiber infrastructure will continue to support growing bandwidth requirements.
