Belgian service provider Numéricable is using the Calix E7-2 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP) and gigabit passive optical network (GPON) technology to upgrade its service delivery platform in Belgium and Luxembourg. Calix along with optical specialist Arcadiz Telecom will work closely to roll out Numéricable’s new high-speed broadband networks to deliver business services across the region. Numéricable serves more than 150,000 customers in Brussels with triple-play services for residential subscribers…ADVA Optical Networking’s ADVA 100G Metro solution has been used to successfully transport data over 600 kilometers of Corning LEAF optical fiber. According to the two companies, this demo “represents the first time that direct-detection 100G technology has been used outside of the metro environment and positions it as a genuine 100G solution for regional networks.” The joint demonstration was conducted at ADVA Optical Networking’s Meiningen campus.
