Liberty Global launched the Horizon TV, a family of media products now available on its Dutch cable operation UPC Netherlands and slated for rollout in Switzerland, Germany and Ireland during the next six months. Horizon TV includes multiscreen and home network, personal recommendations and social Web TV. Samsung built the multimedia gateway, Intel supplied the Intel Atom CE Media Processor, NDS supplied the middleware and user interface, and Nagravision supplied the NAGRA Media Access encryption system…Entropic Communications says its technology has been selected as the system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution for EchoStar’s recently launched Ultra Slim Box, a high-definition (HD) digital TV recorder combining Freeview+ HD and access to Smart-TV entertainment. The device uses Entropic’s low-power set-top box SoC silicon, the PNX849x…Edgeware adds two new customers: EpicTV, owned by Finland´s largest telecom operator Elisa, built a pan-European CDN using Edgeware’s D-VDN system to deliver premium live and on-demand OTT adventure sports movies and TV shows to multiple devices, including iOS and Android devices; and Ziggo, the largest cable operator in the Netherlands, is using Edgeware’s D-VDN system, managed by the Convoy VDN software suite, to provide TV Everywhere services to its Internet subscribers…HBO Europe is using RGB Networks’ Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) and TransAct Packager to provide a transcoding and packaging solution for its HBO GO live streaming service in 15 countries…A1 Telekom Austria AG recently added the Envivio Muse to expand its A1 TV IPTV service for broadcast and on-demand HD, SD and 3GPP mobile services. Envivio partnered with local Austrian market specialists TV-Connect Broadcast Systems, based in Vienna, for sales and installation support services for the A1 Telekom Austria deployment.
