AirNet Ltd., a local ISP in Bulgaria, deployed Israel-based Alvarion’s carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution to deliver wireless connectivity along a two-kilometer stretch of the Albena Resort area along the coast of the Black Sea. The wide-area deployment covers the lobby areas and rooms at approximately 30 hotels, conference facilities and restaurants as well large park areas, recreational facilities and along the beach front. Different service plans are offered to resort guests, from free Wi-Fi to paying options…Cyprus cableco Cablenet is using Broadpeak‘s BkM100 Mediator content delivery network manager and BkS100 on-demand video servers to power its new digital cable service. The operator now is able to deliver new VOD and time-shift TV services like catch-up, start-over and NPVR. Cablenet also can incrementally add storage capacity…Earlier today, Openet unveiled its Openet Labs in Dublin to foster R&D of new technologies, services and business models. Led by CTO Joe Hogan, Openet Labs works with technology partners and third-party developers, providing “a broad ecosystem for innovation, including prominent academics within an Openet Research Fellows program. This enables Openet to deliver the most innovative and complete solutions to satisfy customer’s current and future needs for dynamic network transaction management,” the company adds.
