MobiTV Inc. is teaming with Dolby Laboratories to deliver what it says will be a “high-quality surround-sound experience” across multiple platforms, including mobile phones, tablets, PCs, Internet TVs and set-top boxes.

As part of the deal, MobiTV will integrate Dolby Digital Plus into its established DRM-protected content delivery platform. Operators and content providers looking to push their wares  to other platforms could leverage MobiTV’s existing ingestion and encoding efforts, the multiscreen company notes.

“As an end-to-end managed service that leverages MobiTV’s cloud-based video distribution platform, the TV Everywhere solution can help TV service providers reduce time to market and costs associated with deployment and operations,” the company explains. “Additionally, the service will be supported 24/7 by the experienced team in the MobiTV network operations center.” ?

And according to Taeho Oh, senior director/Mobile at Dolby Laboratories, “We’re excited to work with MobiTV to enable consumers to experience high-quality Dolby Digital Plus audio that delivers an authentic, cinema-style entertainment experience wherever, whenever they prefer.” ?

MobiTV is the exclusive national provider of mobile television services for AT&T U-verse Live TV, NFL Mobile on Verizon, Sprint TV, T-Mobile TV, Telus Mobile TV and US Cellular Mobile TV, among others.
