The Cable Center Updates Exhibits for Cable Days Visitors will see a brand new look throughout The Cable Center during Cable Days, October 10-11, as The Cable Center opens a number of new areas and makes interactive updates to existing displays. There will be two exhibits celebrating the innovations of technology and the upcoming 60-year anniversary of the first cable system. An updated "Cable Today and Tomorrow" room will also allow visitors to test the latest high-tech products designed to change the way people communicate. The Cable Center is also updating existing interactive exhibits throughout the building, making the content more expansive and reflective of its mission to educate, appreciate and celebrate cable’s past and present. Orbital Data Net Awarded Missouri Satellite Broadband Contract Orbital Data Net has been awarded the satellite broadband contract for the State of Missouri. Under this agreement, Orbital Data Net will provide WildBlue high-speed Internet via satellite service and Encore Networks VSR family of VPN security routers to agencies throughout the State of Missouri. The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Department of Natural Resources will be the first agencies to receive the WildBlue and Encore equipment, with additional agencies to follow. State agencies are expected to begin using the new equipment by May. Financial details surrounding the contract were not disclosed. PhyFlex Sold to Ciena PhyFlex reached a formal agreement for the sale of its core technology and associated intellectual property to Ciena. The sale includes the FTTxSWITCH, Coax Access Switch, Coax Demarcation Unit, Modems, miniX and Service Management Platform. The deal also covers PhyFlex’s portfolio of intellectual property, such as out-of-band network architecture and switched Ethernet over HFC patents. Widevine Releases Cablecard Widevine Technologies has announced the immediate availability of the Widevine CableCard. This QAM and IP-based hardware solution enables multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) to provide two-way downloadable conditional access solution for protecting premium content delivery to any device with a CableCard slot. The Widevine CableCard supports content delivered across multiple networks and multiple streams to televisions, set top boxes, PCs and portable media players.
