Next year, Verizon plans to add a unified shopping portal, interactive broadcasts and gaming to FiOS TV. But creating much of the buzz Wed was what Verizon didn’t say during its presentation. DSL Prime editor Dave Burstein says he’s learned that the telco plans to open the FiOS set-top to all video on the Internet, with early trials starting soon. Sister pub Communications Technology appears to have been the 1st pub to get Verizon to acknowledge those plans publicly. A rep told the mag that Verizon’s recent release of Home Media DVR doesn’t support that capability, but "it’s on the roadmap for future releases."
