Verimatrix has announced the deployment of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for DVB Hybrid on the Finecom Telecommunications DVB-C/IP hybrid network.

Combining an IP-based fiber to the home (FTTH) network with its existing DVB-C plant enables Finecom to offer its triple-play Quickline service line for high-speed broadband Internet, telephony and digital TV.??

Finecom is the second largest cable operator in Switzerland with more than 200,000 subscribers. As part of the strategy to enhance and extend its network with cable and fiber, Finecom is transitioning from a smart card-based conditional access system to Verimatrix’s cardless solution for the new interactive TV product called Verte!.

“We feel that the development of an interactive TV product is key to our ability to remain competitive in the Swiss market. The goal was to provide a cardless solution and Verimatrix’s software-based approach easily enables us to secure content when and where consumers want, such as the PC, iPhone and other mobile devices,” said Marc Loosli, developer manager at Finecom Telecommunications, in a statement.
