The Federal Communications Commission has contracted with INSTALLS Inc. to provide in-home converter box installation services to more than 35,000 homes across the country. The FCC wants to ensure that senior citizens, those with disabilities, non-native English speakers and others are given additional help to complete the transition to digital TV signals. INTSTALLS is a 15-year-old suppler of installation services to clients that include Best Buy, SONY and COSTCO.com. The company uses a network of more than 8,000 technicians. Reply comments are due today at the FCC on its quadrennial review of broadcast ownership rules. That means it’ll probably be Monday before the FCC posts them all, and while many comments are likely to restate entrenched positions, a few new threads may still emerge.
