According to the New York Times, NBC Universal CEO Jeffrey Zucker told his staff earlier today via memo that regulators would not be approving the pending Comcast/NBC Universal merger this year.

Rather, Zucker said “the green Light” could be given to the deal in January 2011. Apparently, the stumbling blocks involve some concessions Comcast is being asked to make by the FCC and the Justice Department.

Times reporters also said the FCC could circulate its merger order as soon as tomorrow.
