Rupert Murdoch’s cable nets worked wonders for News Corp, with their operating income jumping 23% to $212mln thanks to higher affiliate revenue at the RSNs and more ad dollars at Fox News. FX saw double-digit revenue growth thanks to higher affiliate and advertising revenue. Revenue gains were "more than offset by increased programming costs for returning series, as well as promotional and programming spending for several new original series," a release said. — Outdoor Channel’s 1Q viewership and ad rev rose 7%, to 26mln and $5.5mln. Its sub fees jumped 20% to $4.4mln based on more paying subs and increased contractual fee rates, noted parent Outdoor Channel Holdings. Overall company rev climbed 12% to $11mln, although it suffered a net loss of $561K.
