A 33% leap in 1Q cable ad sales spurred double-digit revenue gains at Viacom’s [VIA] cable division (up 21% to $1.4bln). Pres/COO Mel Karmazin said, "Programming investments are clearly paying off," with MTV leading the pack with a 35% spike in ad sales, followed by BET (16%) and Comedy Central (9%). – – BellSouth added a record 156K net DSL customers in 1Q, outstripping its previous high of 126K in 4Q ’03.
