SVP, Distribution Sales, Univison

Andaverde has guided her newly formed sales team through the completion of more than 130 retrans agreements. And then there’s the launch of Univision’s three new networks, Univision tlnovelas, FOROtv and Univision Deportes, in Puerto Rico. Add to that the fact that most of her clients are less-than-familiar with Spanish-language media, and you have a skilled and passionate communicator on your hands. The 20-plus years of industry experience helps. Luckily she’s up for the task. “Nothing stays the same,” she says. “I’m constantly being challenged, which is good because that means we are making things happen with the help of others.”

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is that it changes every day; nothing stays the same. I’m constantly being challenged, which is good because that means we are making things happen with the help of others.

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
The biggest story this year, in my opinion, was that Univision beat ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox for the first time ever in July Sweeps. That was monumental for our company, and I’m very proud to be part of this great organization.

How do you define success in the workplace?

Success in the workplace for me is when I can learn new things, when I’m challenged and when I can work with people who are collaborative and who I respect.
