Aussie group NetComm Wireless Limited  and wireless smart-grid developer Grid Net inked a strategic alliance that has NetComm Wireless designing, developing and manufacturing Grid Net-enabled 3G wireless cards for the global smart-grid market. Australia is the first market for Grid Net-enabled communications cards, with North America and the European Union markets soon to follow…SBA Communications Corporation is merging with certain affiliates of TowerCo that own 3,252 tower sites in 47 states and Puerto Rico. SBA is paying $1.2 billion in cash and 4.6 million shares of SBA Class A common stock, implying a total transaction value of $1.45 billion. The deal should close in the fourth quarter. The Enterasys solution will allows R66T to provision a high-density Wi-Fi network that can support Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), all managed from a single pane of glass…Imec and Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. are kicking off a three-year research collaboration on reconfigurable radio IC design. Imec’s R&D program on reconfigurable radios investigates reconfigurable RF solutions, high-speed/low-power analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and new approaches to digitize future RF architectures. New transceivers will cover all key broadband standards, including LTE and LTE advanced, digital broadcasting and next-generation Wi-Fi (802.11n/ac)…AVI-SPL, Cisco and TELUS have joined the Open Visual Communications Consortium (OVCC), which aims to  create the blueprint to deliver high-quality video collaboration that connects any vendor, any network and any device, anywhere. AVI-SPL and Cisco joined the organization as board members. The three new members bring OVCC membership to 27 companies, more than doubling OVCC membership just eight months after launching.
