The Next Big LTE Thing
Qualcomm Labs Inc., and FanVision Entertainment LLC signed a marketing/technical cooperation agreement that has Qualcomm Labs promoting FanVision’s in-venue broadcast service in conjunction with Qualcomm Labs’ LTE Broadcast middleware software. LTE Broadcast is a scalable solution to help carriers deliver high-bandwidth, high-demand live, premium and software content, including sports and music events. FanVision also will license its patents in connection with terminals that use the LTE Broadcast Middleware.
It’s All About Entropic
Entropic is on a roll at this week’s CES, porting Audible Magic‘s SmartID ACR (automatic content recognition) technology onto the Entropic set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform, which gets embedded into STB devices used by MVPDs; hooking up the DIRECTV PanAmericana Channel with its stacking switch and Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA)-based silicon and software for connected home; working with STB maker Humax to build an IP-based STB based on Comcast’s hardware and software specs; and including its technology in ARRIS Group Inc.’s headless MG2402 Video Gateway that also uses Comcast’s XG5 and Reference Design Kit.
Lemko, Canada Carrier Enhance Voice, Messaging Apps
Ill.-based Lemko Corporation, which re-engineers and develops mobile broadband for Internet economics, has contracted with Canada’s Execulink Telecom to provide a critical solution to drive the carrier’s core voice, SMS and MMS functions. Execulink will integrate Lemko’s DiMoWiNe MVNO technology into its operational architecture to offer data, Internet, cable TV and advanced voice features.
