Patent Pact Will Result In Revenue Share
An agreement between Wi-LAN Inc. and Espial has Wi-LAN assisting Espial in the licensing of certain Espial patents related to video-over-IP technology. The companies will share in any net revenues generated from new products.
Ohio Telco Beefs Up Copper
Glandorf Telephone Company will be using Adtran’s Total Access 5000 broadband platform to provide both FTTH and Ultra Broadband services to residential and business customers in Northwest Ohio. The telco says it’s “reaching the unreachable” by capitalizing on its existing copper network to double the bandwidth service speed over bonded copper for rural residents who have no access to fiber.
NZ Carrier’s Carrier Bumps Up Customer-Service OSS
Alcatel-Lucent and software provider Comptel Corporation are teaming to build a new Fiber Fulfillment and Inventory Solution for Chorus, a large New Zealand telecom-infrastructure company, for its open-access fiber services used by retail carriers. Alcatel-Lucent will be the systems integrator for the Comptel Fulfillment CF8.0 implementation project, providing such services as project management as well as the design, building, testing and deployment of the network OSS. The new system will manage customer-service queries and orders, service qualification and feasibility requests as well as associated Service Level Management.
