Okla.-based Cherokee Communications is using the Zhone MXK platform from FTTx network access provider Zhone Technologies Inc. to get triple-play services out to its residential and business subscribers. By integrating VDSL2 interfaces to support bandwidth speeds as fast as 100 Mbps, Cherokee says its subs will have access to wire-speed gigabit connectivity, and “the derived POTS lines will also enable the service provider to take advantage of a low-cost packet network and still provide subscribers with traditional POTS service.”
