Cablevision launched an IPTV product in May, offering limited content as a value-added service to its "Optimum Boost" subs. A spokesperson confirmed Fri reports by Pali Research that the service includes traffic and weather news from News Channel 12 (a Long Island station owned by CVC), and told us that VOD from IFC is also available on a limited basis. The MSO declined to outline future content additions or service enhancements. While Pali does not expect the IPTV service to impact Cablevision’s stock, the firm continues to rate it a "buy" based on the MSO’s "focus on industry-leading technology," among other reasons. Cablevision will likely monitor the IPTV service’s future intensely amid potential disagreements over content ownership rights, much like Cablevision’s controversial proposed network DVR technology (Cfax 5/25).
