CTAM’s Hall of Fame Nominations, and More Honors
The Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing announced the nominees for induction into the 2007 CTAM Hall of Fame: Cablevision’s iO branding campaign; Fox News Channel’s "Fair and Balanced" campaign; HBO’s marketing of The Sopranos; HGTV’s annual Dream Home Giveaway event; and NBC Universal’s "The Complete Olympics." The winner will be announced during a special ceremony at the CTAM Summit, July 23-25 in Washington, D.C.
CNN’s Amanpour to Receive RTNDA NOD
Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international correspondent, was named the 2007 recipient of the Paul White Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association. RTNDA will honor Amanpour on April 16 at RTNDA@NAB in Las Vegas. RTNDA established the Paul White Award in 1956 to honor White, the first news director at CBS. The award recognizes an individual’s lifetime contribution to electronic journalism. Amanpour is the first full-time correspondent to receive the award.
Hawaii Lawmakers Applaud A&E’s Dog
Members of the Hawaii House of Representatives recognized Duane "Dog" Chapman and his wife Beth, stars of A&E’s series Dog the Bounty Hunter, in the state legislature on March 20 for their work capturing criminals. "Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman is part preacher, part father figure to many fugitives he captures and then prays with," said Rep. Gene Ward (R-Kalama Valley-Hawaii Kai), who sponsored the resolution honoring the Chapmans.
Cable Positive Nets Ashe Acclaim
Cable Positive will receive the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health Award for Leadership in Philanthropy on April 26. The award will be presented to CEO Steve Villano at the AAIUH’s SportsBall gala dinner in New York, the organization’s annual "black tie and sneakers" event to raise support and awareness about the Ashe Institute.
