The 2007 Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing Summit being held in Washington, D.C., this week will honor some of cable’s elite marketers. Among those being recognized for outstanding contributions to cable marketing is CTAM’s past chairman David Watson, Comcast’s EVP-operations. Watson has been a member of the CTAM board of directors since 2000 and served as its chairman in 2006. Current CTAM chairman Joe Rooney, Chief Marketing Officer for Cox Communications, will present Watson with the award during the opening general session on July 25.

Disney’s Sweeney Recognized for Latino Outreach

The Imagen Foundation, an organization whose mandate is to encourage and recognize positive portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment industry, will present its 2007 President’s Award to Anne Sweeney, co-chairman at Disney Media Networks and president at Disney-ABC Television Group. Sweeney will receive the award from Imagen founder and president Helen Hernandez in a ceremony that will be held July 28 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Discovery Praised for Education Efforts

The Discovery Education Network, Discovery Communications’ digital forum for educators, was recognized with two 2007 Distinguished Achievement Awards at the Association of Educational Publishers annual awards banquet and gala held June 12 in Washington, D.C.
