Cox Taps Huawei, NDS
Huawei Technologies has been selected to provide its end-to-end CDMA solution and services to Cox Communications. Cox plans to launch its 3G wireless network utilizing Huawei’s LTE-ready SingleRAN solution and 3900 Series base stations. Huawei’s other major wireless customers in North America include Leap Wireless, Telus and Bell Mobility. The latest network deployments in North America include Chicago and Milwaukee. Huawei was also recently awarded an LTE contract by TeliaSonera.
In other Cox news, the MSO has chosen NDS to be the prime integrator for its upcoming tru2way platform, set to launch this summer. NDS will be responsible for the management and implementation of the tru2way system that will be deployed by Cox. NDS will provide the services for the complete end-to-end solution, from the headend through to the set-top box components. NDS’ role will initially begin with the rollout of the tru2way set-tops to Cox customers in July. NDS will also provide the tru2way user interface and interactive applications moving forward. NDS will be showcasing its wares at The Cable Show in meeting room ES-19 or at the CableNET stand.
