Concurrent, a provider of video delivery and media data solutions, is expanding its operations in Asia Pacific to further drive its global three screen strategy. Steve VonderHaar, previously with Newisys, will head the company’s office in Hong Kong and the operation in Beijing, China as regional vice president. Concurrent also maintains an office in Tokyo, Japan.

Concurrent cites SNL Kagan, which found that Asia Pacific digital TV operators are facing invigorated competition and are turning to advanced-service rollouts to drive subscriber growth and ARPU gains. Leading operators in the region are incorporating digital video recorders (DVRs), video-on-demand services and high-definition (HD) content to drive revenues and enhance competitive differentiation. Asia is also the largest consumer of mobile video.
