The Comcast Media Center has taken the wraps off a newly rebuilt high-tech origination and playout facility to handle all of In Demand’s live sports and pay-per-view (PPV) content. In Demand, a distributor and manager of transactional and subscription entertainment, uses the facility to offer a wide range of PPV and digital out-of-market sports subscription TV programming, including first-run movies, out-of-market major sports league packages, championship sports events and concerts.

In Demand’s new facility at the CMC uses the latest technology to support its expanding requirements for HD TV programming standards and consolidates the operational processes for sports and PPV programming into one master control operation. The new control room also provides immediate flexibility for adding on-screen features, such as sports statistics, event replays, and personalized messaging concerning rain delays or other developments that may affect programming from live event venues.

As part of a recently renewed content services agreement, the CMC provides In Demand with an end-to-end content management solution for its channels, including multi-channel network origination, traffic management, live sports event integration and transmission. Each year, the CMC supports In Demand’s delivery of nearly 7,000 live sports feeds, representing over 20,000 hours of sports package content and PPV events.
