Charter Communications will launch EPIX, a multiplatform premium entertainment channel, VOD and online service to customers during May.

EPIX is the entertainment joint venture formed by Viacom, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Lionsgate.

Charter and EPIX recently reached an agreement, terms of which were not disclosed.

“Video consumption is evolving, and our customers want access to the best movies and entertainment, when they want it and on multiple platforms,” said Rich DiGeronimo, Charter’s VP of product management. "EPIX offers new content with convenience and control for our customers through a linear, on-demand and online total viewing experience.”?

Through its distribution partnerships, EPIX will be available for consumers in nearly 16 million homes by May 2010.
