ARRIS announced that Portuguese operator Cabovisao has placed an order for ARRIS D5 universal edge QAMs (quadrature amplitude modulators) to facilitate its national digital broadcast rollout. Cabovisao Director of Planning and Engineering Joe Pascoal said in a statement that the D5 provided the “scrambling and conditional access interface required to meet the desired expectations.” Cabovisao selected Conax to provide the conditional access for this project.
