Why Them? They’re all probably sick of all of us gushing all over them, but oh well… Here it goes again. Lamb has already reached legendary status within the cable industry, but he did the industry prouder than ever this year by receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. Kennedy and Swain, meanwhile, have both become invaluable members of the C-SPAN family. They added “President” to their titles this year, with Kennedy handling finance, technical and operations, and Swain taking on programming, new program offerings and marketing/PR. As the ’08 election approaches, C-SPAN has also started airing events and coverage all week rather than waiting for the weekly “Road to the White House” (which is now available on VOD, by the way). It’s also adding more HD to the mix. After all these years, C-SPAN remains a key lifeline for those interested in balanced and thorough coverage of important national issues. Yes, we could go on and on about cable’s gift to America. But we’ll stop. For now.  MG
