Coming Mother: It’ll be February ’09 before you know it, and heaven forgive you if you haven’t listened to your mother, or rather the self-proclaimed mother of the digital transition, Florence Henderson. In her role as spokesperson for Retirement Living TV’s "Digital Transition Education Campaign," Henderson hosts a series of PSAs, and her image adorns a digital transition toolkit that tells the 55+ crowd how to prepare for the new age of television. We especially liked the greeting card that when opened has Mrs. Brady’s iconic voice saying, "Hi, Hon," and telling us she’s about to give our parents advice about the digital transition. That’s why she merits our first CableFAX: The Magazine Community Service Award. And this isn’t just a script for the Gracie Allen Award-winning host of RLTV’s The Florence Henderson Show. Henderson has become adroit at the intricacies of the digital age, as we found out during a dinner with her recently. Incidentally, Alice cooked the roast just right that night.
