Rich DiGeronimo
SVP, Product & Strategy
Charter Communications
DiGeronimo leads Charter’s corporate strategy, business development and product management—tasks largely intertwined with the digital experience these days. Among his first orders of business after joining the company three years ago was maximizing productivity of Charter’s broadband pipeline, resulting in the operator’s ability to increase Internet speeds for Charter customers twice in one year. DiGeronimo was a key architect of the Charter-TiVo VOD partnership and the resulting new program guide and services, and he’s been savvy in making decisions to extend Charter’s reach through Android, iPhone and tablet apps. No doubt he’s eyeing synergies for the interactive advertising widgets the operator just deployed in 800,000 digital households in five markets.
What’s your favorite digital toy and why? I like the Jambox by Jawbone as I can stream bass-filled audio from my iPhone over BlueTooth when I’m on the road — I just wish that it acted as a better speakerphone for ad hoc conference calls.
The biggest challenge with TV Everywhere/authentication is: Significant inconsistency between programmers, devices, operators and in vs. out-of-the-home environments. Consumers are rightfully confused.
Without social media, the world would be just a little bit… more face-to-face.
Would you rather own a flying car or a jetpack—and why? Jetpack for sure – I could land on uneven and remote surfaces, like mountain tops. However, I would like to outfit the jetpack with ski & bike racks.
