Brad Knight

Age: 50
Education: BS, CA State U, Chico
Social Media Quotient: 6

Why Him? Knight’s big victory came in January when Comcast made a financial investment in the channel and agreed to launch it on a digital tier, increasing the net’s distribution by more than 10mln homes. The net’s still shopping for carriage, but it’s picked up some accolades — including regional Emmys and a Gracie Allen award.

Numbers Game: RLTV should be in about 15mln homes by year-end, a figure it’s obviously hoping to boost.

Year Ahead:

Gaining distribution in a shaky economy isn’t easy.

Favorite Drink: Coffee. With the pace our business moves, I need at least three cups a day to keep up.

Favorite iPhone/Blackberry Apps: Spell Check and Google Earth. Google Earth lets me mentally tour exotic places when my vacation isn’t coming soon enough, and I’m still in the office. Spell Check is an essential tool for me. Spelling is not my strength… and I never can remember if it’s "‘I’ before ‘E’" or "‘E’ before ‘I’"!

A Day Without Facebook is…: Refreshing. It’s a great tool to reconnect with old friends and learn more about new ones, but I end up spending too much time on it.

Trait I Admire in People: Tenacity

Favorite Part of My Job: Working with a great team that really believes in what we are doing.

Best Business Advice Received: The best leaders are measured in their absence. The greatest leaders create a culture of achievement and success that can be sustained regardless of their presence.
