Marc Juris
Title: EVP/GM, truTV and In Session
Last Year: Also Influential
Age: Born sometime in between the premieres of Gunsmoke and The Flintstones
Education: Syracuse U, BA

Why Him? Juris joined the network in 2004, when it was known as Court TV, and he has led the transition since last January into the new brand as truTV and In Session, reflecting different daytime and evening schedules of news and entertainment. truTV targets 18-49 males, and ratings in that demographic were up 5% vs Q3 2007, as was the the percentage of 18-49 males (up from 47% to 53%). Also good, viewers’ median age in prime time dropped by five years.

Big Deals: Juris bought Black Gold from producer Thom Beers, the popular series Smoking Gun: World’s Dumbest and the increasingly popular Speeders franchise.

The Year Ahead:
Even without O.J. on trial (again), truTV/In Session likely will sustain a positive ratings path.

Food: TV dinners, of course!

Drink: Diet Coke

Unnecessary Luxury I Like Most: iPhone apps

Favorite Show Not on My Network: Lost

Best Business Advice Received: Always have a strategy
