Oslo-based Bridge Technologies has announced the new VB262, a dual QAM/8VSB input module option for its VideoBRIDGE monitoring probes.

Providing a real-time monitoring and alarm solution ideal for RF, cable and terrestrial operators, the VB262 in combination with the VB220 or the VB120 controller is perfect for hybrid networks where IP is used as a carrier from head-end to the regional edge-multiplexer/modulator/transmitter.

The VB262’s built-in round-robin functionality allows sequential analysis of multiple QAM or 8VSB multiplexes, making it possible to monitor the total broadcast contents of a cable transmission system using a single VB262. By specifying two VB262 modules in a single probe chassis, broadcasters can achieve high-density monitoring in a single 1-inch rack unit.

"The VB262 interface option is an important addition to the VideoBRIDGE monitoring system, delivering a combination of capabilities that is very well suited to the cable industry," said Simen Frostad, chairman, Bridge Technologies, in a statement.

The VideoBRIDGE series of probes offer an innovative approach to monitoring and analysis of converging services employing stream-based IP packets. Compatible with all major stream-based industrial standards such as MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, and DVB/ATSC, the VideoBRIDGE series offers a complete end-to-end system for the continuous quality assurance of a network.
