AMC – Hell on Wheels: Louise Ellison, Blogger (ghost written by script coordinator Max Hurwitz)
“Hell on Wheels” takes place in a time before electricity much less the Internet, so building a believable blog by one of the show’s characters—fittingly the series’ strong-willed New York Tribune reporter Louise Ellison—ain’t easy. Of course, it’s hard to blog when you don’t really exist. So it’s a good thing that script coordinator Max Hurwitz has stepped in to ghostwrite the posts, which consistently bring readers into the 1860s American frontier. Even more interestingly, Hurwitz introduced his alter ego even before the show premiered, creating the illusion that she was covering the action even before the first episode. With headlines like “Union Pacific Chief Engineer Kidnapped” and “Railroad Run by Murderer,” this blog never disappoints. Meanwhile, page views up triple digits in 2013, with Facebook likes rising 127% to nearly 442K.
