BigBand Networks will present its latest findings on HDTV expansion, personalized content and bandwidth management at the SCTE Conference on Emerging Technologies next week. John Holobinko, BigBand’s vice president and general manager of cable edge, and Doug Jones, BigBand’s chief cable architect, will present findings from BigBand’s commercial SDV and edge QAM deployments at Paul Kagan’s The QAM Before The Storm event, on Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles. The following day, at the, Doug Jones will join Charles Hasek, principal engineer, Time Warner Cable will present findings from a paper they co-authored on managing edge resources as part of the panel, “Cable’s Evolution to the Hyperconnected Network.” The Jones and Hasek paper addresses approaches to managing edge resources for triple-play services as they grow to include more HD programming, long-tail content delivery using switched digital video, expanded on-demand products and advanced data and voice services.
