Big Ten Network on Fri afternoon sent out word that it would offer a free Web preview of its 90-min program “Big Ten Tonight: Basketball Tip-Off Edition,” at 9:30pm. “Is your cable company still not carrying the Big Ten Network? Well, here’s your chance to get a free sneak peek at what you’ve been missing,” a news release said. A spokeswoman said the net had sent word to media in the states involved, as well as emails to fans, blogs, message boards, schools, etc. Largest MVPD holdout Comcast’s response: “It’s unfortunate the Big Ten Network continues to withhold its programming from its fans,” a reference to Comcast’s desire to carry it on a sports tier.
