DirecTV moved fast in 2013 to overhaul its TVE app, turning it from a remote control and DVR scheduler to a full-fledged video powerhouse that now includes more than 100 live streamed channels, as well as thousands of on-demand movies and shows. The navigation is simple and intuitive. And now the app even allows viewers to download recorded shows from their DVRs to mobile devices through its GenieGO product. Users can also customize the app’s home screen, adding, removing and re-ordering various modules until it’s the perfectly personalized set-up. In addition, the DirecTV CoPilot feature seamlessly integrates social media and other interactivity into the viewing experience, with stats on the actors, related news and even the ability to participate in real-time trivia and polls.
