Bell Mobility has deployed Openet’s 3GPP compliant FusionWorks online charging system (OCS) as part of its HSPA network upgrade. Openet was selected for this project in 2008 and the solution, along with Bell’s HSPA network, went live this month.

Openet’s OCS system was selected to enable new personalized services for pre- and post-paid data charging, rating and subscription control.

Offering mobile speeds as high as 21 Mbps, the new HSPA network launched by Bell this month covers 1.2 million square kilometers, reaching approximately 20,000 Canadian towns and cities and 93 percent of the population. The new network also supports international roaming in more than 200 countries around the globe.
