Beijing Gehua Cable TV Network has chosen BigBand Networks’ BEQ Edge QAM platform to deliver video on demand (VOD) to its customers. This new project follows the 2010 selection of BigBand’s BEQ platform for Gehua’s interactive HDTV and broadband Internet services.

Gehua’s large-scale cable network covers all 18 districts of the Beijing metropolitan area and transmits more than 100 channels to 3.2 million people. The cable provider relied on the BigBand Broadband Multimedia-Service Router (BMR) to provide coverage of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics to more than 1.7 million of its digital TV viewers. BigBand’s BMR platform continues to be used today in Gehua’s digital TV network headend system for delivery of video content.
