President/Founder Carlsen Resources

CRI is a consistent industry resource providing executive searches and consulting in cable, media, entertainment and technology. Carlsen deeply understands the industries she serves, the needs of her clients and the broader marketplace in which they operate. It’s not surprising, then, that “Brokering the deal that lands someone their big dream job and knowing it will not only be a career-defining moment for them but also a life changing event for their entire family” is her favorite part of the job. Under Carlsen’s leadership, CRI has become the gold standard among boutique firms. She also has established CRI as a firm committed to recruiting and mentoring strong minority clients.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
Brokering the deal that lands someone their big dream job and knowing it will not only be a career-defining moment for them but also a life changing event for their entire family. I get to tag along and be a part of their joy/share the joy with them.

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
While I’m often outspoken on the topic of life-balance, I think we all know how hard it really is I think most of us are more “wobbly” than “balanced”.  Try to remember, you need a personal life as well as a professional life. Learn to say no and try to prioritize your commitments.

Who would you want to swap jobs with for a month and why?

Howard Schultz of Starbucks… ok, yes—it’s because of the coffee, but it doesn’t hurt that he’s built a truly iconic American brand.
