Nearly a third of content watched by pay-TV subscribers in any given week is recorded on a DVR, according to a study by Vanson Bourne for Motorola Mobility. Though DVR owners tend to watch an average of one hour more of content per week, some 36 percent of all video recorded never actually is viewed, the study said, citing the United States as being the most wasteful content market; 41 percent of recorded content here never is watched. However, the States leads all countries in video consumption, with the average American watching 23 hours of TV and six hours of movies each week.
