Why Them: After an initial bumpy road, OWN has finally gained ratings two years after launch, posting double-digit growth in primetime and total day in ‘12 and into this year. Recent wins for the network include Oprah’s interview with Lance Armstrong on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” which reached 29 million viewers globally, and a sit down with Beyoncé. Under Salata and Logan’s leadership, originals are also make inroads, with premieres of “Iyanla: Fix My Life” and “Life with La Toya” scoring 3.3 million viewers. OWN plans to air its first scripted series from Tyler Perry in late May, and in April OWN announced a partnership with Discovery Networks International to launch a new programming block in the U.K. There’s no doubt things are looking up for the network.

On a Saturday afternoon, you can find me… hopefully on a 4-foot face.
Film fest or music festival? CMA Music Festival in Nashville
Favorite decade? The ‘80s because it had some of the best country music of all time. I started working as a DJ in 1987 in Oklahoma City and was spinning amazing artists like Keith Whitley, Alabama, Reba and George Straight.
Favorite airport? Oklahoma City. There’s nothing better than the feeling of coming home.
I watch the majority of programming on this device: My Samsung TV
Cable exec I wish had done a Harlem Shake video? David Zaslav
The biggest lesson I learned from my kid(s) this year was… don’t give up. I was frustrated hanging a picture the other night and my girls said, “Don’t give up, daddy, don’t give up.” They were parenting back what we’ve told them. It was a nice little reminder.
Beatles or The Rolling Stones? Paul, John, Ringo, George
This is the hobby I’ve been itching to try, but haven’t found time: Scuba Diving
The movie that should never be remade? The Sound of Music because no one can replace Julie Andrews.
Cable exec I wish had done a Harlem Shake video? Eileen O’ Neill (Discovery/ TLC)
If I could tell my 21-year-old self something today, it would be… a meaningful career is not separate and apart from having a meaningful life.
The TV show title that most resembles my life is… ”Oprah’s Next Chapter” ?
