Why Him? Abbott continues to hone his content strategy, recently launching Hallmark’s “Marie!,” a one-hour talk show hosted by legendary star Marie Osmond and a second original series “When Calls The Heart” set to premiere in January. And Abbott’s not welcoming existing quality dramas, evidenced by his ground-breaking syndication partnership with CBS that has Hallmark adding “The Good Wife” to its lineup in 2014. Meanwhile, Hallmark’s slate of movies continue to drive big ratings during the holidays. Abbott also spearheaded the creation of Hallmark’s first advocacy initiative, “Pet Project,” which is designed to celebrate our four-legged friends. The cause—and the network—will get a boost next year when Hallmark debuts the Kitten Bowl. Hallmark’s also home of the American Humane Society’s “Hero Dog” awards.
