Why Them? With the near-ubiquitous themes of home, food and travel at its nexus, Scripps is an advertising magnet these days—and these two are steering the sales ship. Gigliotti, who enters the CableFAX Sales Hall of Fame this year, and right-hand man Steinlauf oversaw Scripps’ first $1 billion Upfront last year and are determined to keep up the momentum. Avid proponents of new methodology to track multiplatform content consumption, the two are strong supporters of Nielsen’s new initiatives on that front. And it’s not just about the numbers—though with 600-plus advertisers, they certainly don’t hurt. Scripps and its ad sales counterparts have delivered some of cable’s most innovative campaigns, from Food Network’s DoubleTree by Hilton integration to HGTV’s campaign with Pulte Homes.
