Why Them? Freer and Shanks oversee all entities within the Fox Sports Media Group, including powerhouse Fox Sports. Over the last year, they continued the evolution of the company’s multiplatform asset development, highlighting the roles of FSMG’s cable channels play within its media rights landscape. The pair continues to lead the charge on key negotiations. The FSMG scored the rights for the Men’s World Cup (Russia) in 2018, the Women’s World Cup in 2020 and the Men’s World Cup (Qatar) in 2022. Freer’s and Shanks’ leadership styles complement one another. While Freer is thoughtful, methodical and wields excellent prioritization skills, Shanks’ creativity and energy often yields innovative event coverage ideas.
