Nielsen is entering a new chapter as shareholders gave the green light to be acquired by a private equity consortium in an all-cash deal that’s valued at approximately $16 billion, including the assumption of debt. The deal is expected to close in October, but until then, the TV measurement company will have to steady the ship following scrutiny for undercounted viewership numbers during the pandemic. It’s not just a new dawn for Nielsen. C-SPAN hired Michael Piccorossi as its first Chief Digital Officer as the network looks to enlarge its presence on digital platforms.
