As college football got fully underway this weekend, the biggest storyline wasn’t on the gridiron. Disney networks remained dark on Spectrum, and Charter leadership is looking at the big picture while negotiating a new carriage deal that encompasses a healthy hybrid linear and DTC video model. While linear holds substantial value in those talks, providers like Charter are benefitting from customers having streaming video options. Spectrum TV found itself as the top video service in May with 75.74 hours watched per household—nearly 30 hours more than second-place YouTube.com at 46.54 hours per household.
