There’s never a dull day in D.C. Last week, President Trump made the move to fire Democratic FTC Commissioners Alvaro Bedoya and Rebecca Slaughter, a decision that caught many off guard since it could have ramifications on other independent agencies. Though Bedoya and Slaughter plan to sue the Trump administration over the oustings, the two are confident they’ll be reinstated. Speaking of independent agencies, FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington spoke at a Media Institute Luncheon in the nation’s capital. As the FCC juggles news distortion complaints and other issues, he hopes to see broadcast ownership rules and the ATSC 3.0 transition addressed soon.
