Charter CEO Tom Rutledge has seen changes in nearly every aspect of cable since entering the industry in 1972, but as his 50-year anniversary mark came August 15, he decided it was time to pass the torch. COO Chris Winfrey will assume the position starting December 1 while Rutledge will switch to Executive Chairman through November 2023 before retiring. While Charter is preparing for a change of leadership, operators and providers are gearing up for Hurricane Ian, which is expected to hit the U.S. in the coming days.
