As we draw closer to SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo, Cablefax will highlight important tech stories in this eletter, making sure you're in the know when you tune in to the show.

Another day, another disruption to the return to normalcy we’re all craving. As many of you know, SCTE made the difficult decision last week to pivot its hybrid program to a completely virtual format. It isn’t the first association to have to make the call, and it is impossible to tell if it will be the last industry gathering to be disrupted by the ongoing pandemic. One thing is for sure—Expo will pack just as much of a punch in its virtual format as was originally planned.

Nobody will want to miss the first ever joint forum between Expo and NAB Show’s Broadcast Engineering and Information Technology Conference, currently set to occur in-person in Las Vegas. Leaders from SCTE, NAB and others will lead a program on Oct 12 from 1-5pm ET tackling everything from the impact of Next Gen TV to new and existing opportunities to optimize advertising. NAB evp/CTO Sam Matheny and SCTE svp/CTO Chris Bastian will be among those leading the conversation.

There are few hotter topics in the broadband industry than the road to 10G and the increasing investment of some providers in fiber-to-the-home builds. Expo will tackle them both during a session entitled “How to Compete with Fiber-to-the-Home Offerings While on the Road to 10G.” Set for Oct 13 at 8am ET, the workshop will see Cox principal engineer Mike Cooper and Shaw Communications principal network engineer discuss their commitment to DOCSIS 4.0 and how they’re dealing with growing competitive pressures.

If you can't make it to every session, Cablefax will have you covered with our Expo Show Daily. We look forward to seeing you all there!
