AI may be dominating headlines, but it’s also quietly pushing the U.S.’ fiber infrastructure to its limits. A new Fiber Broadband Association report flags that supporting AI’s growing data demands will mean hyperscale data center capacity increasing at least threefold by 2029, which would warrant expansion in fiber route miles and fiber miles.
